After 20 years behind the scissors working for established barbers in Union Street,
Drew believed that the time was right to open his own enterprise in Maidstone.

Saturday : 7:00am - 3:00pm

Launched in 2010, UK Barbershops is the brainchild of proprietor Drew Wilkes. After 20 years behind the scissors working for established barbers in Union Street, Drew believed that the time was right to open his own enterprise in Maidstone.

Drawing on personal interests and tastes, Drew, a long-time Maidstone resident, set his sights on creating a barber shop environment with cross-demographic appeal.

The clean, airy and friendly space inspired for a subculture characterized for a smart stylish appearance..

After finishing training in 1990 from Fishers Hairdressing Group in Maidstone, being accredited with L'Oreal and Wella diplomas, Drew went on to practice his passion for barbering and has never looked back.

Hence UK Barbershops was born!

UK Barbershops in Maidstone is situated on Union Street in Kent's County Town. Visit our Contact Us page for map. Close to the main shopping area of Week Street, UK Barbershops offers a welcoming environment with a hint of 60s 'MOD' styling with a contemporary twist. Popular among the young and old, Drew and his team collectively have a wide range of barbering skills offering Classic cuts including Bald Fades, Flat Tops, and Crew Cuts through to Hair Graffiti and other modern styles, Be it short or long.

Tea and coffee are always complimentary along with the long held tradition of a lollipop for the good boys (age and height restrictions apply!). Daily papers, WiFi, TV and 'The Barbers Choice' playlist of music are there to sooth and comfort while you're here.

UK Barbershops was featured in the September 2012 issue of GQ Magazine alongside 5 other selected barbers from around the UK.

GQ has been on the frontline of men's fashion and style since 1931 when it began life as a lifestyle and fashion supplement within Esquire called Apparel Arts. In 1958 it took on the name Gentlemen's Quarterly and in 1983 after becoming an independent publication became the familiar GQ as we know it today.

Over 25 years in the industry, constantly striving to push the boundary's.

Specialities:

Contemporary styling for all hair types and all ages.

Interests:

Football (Maidstone Utd!) Road cycling, Mountain biking, Surfing, Gigs.

Music:

Eclectic tastes from House to Rock to Radio 2.

Comfort food:

Cheese the smellier the better! ice cream, smoothies.

Favourite holiday destination:

Asia and anywhere the sun shines.

NIALL

Barber

Biography:

3 years experience, A perfectionist with a real passion for the industry.

Specialities:

Classic haircuts with a modern twist.

Interests:

Tattoo collecting, skateboarding, gigs and films.

Music:

Punk Rock, Hardcore Punk, Thrash Metal.

Comfort food:

Anything sweet, cakes and chocolate.

Favourite holiday destination:

Somewhere quiet and in the mountains.

MELODY

Barber

Biography:

Over 17 years Barbering.

Specialities:

Modern styling, long hair and children.

Interests:

Weightlifting and fitness, cheeky house music festivals.

Music:

House, Drum and Bass and even Metal.

Comfort food:

Burger eating bigger the better avec bacon and cheese.

Favourite holiday destination:

Anywhere hot hot hot - the cold sucks!
